okay can anyone give me tips about french braiding one’s own hair?

i’ve been trying so much recently and it’s always a big flyaway mess

maybe my hair is too short still, but its past my shoulders now…so it should be fine right? if feel like i’m getting better after practicing but i don’t know if there’s anything i could do to keep it all together and not sticking out every which way

The last time my hair was its natural color was…I think it was 7th grade? I honestly don’t remember now. I stuck with bright blonde for a really long time, and last year I dyed it dark brown for the first time. :) Now I have the back underside part bleached blonde with the dark on top. :) It’s the best.
