okay can anyone give me tips about french braiding one’s own hair?
i’ve been trying so much recently and it’s always a big flyaway mess
maybe my hair is too short still, but its past my shoulders now…so it should be fine right? if feel like i’m getting better after practicing but i don’t know if there’s anything i could do to keep it all together and not sticking out every which way
help?

If you’re talking about french braiding right down the middle of your hair then, it’s still too short.

tighten it up. use bobby pins. try it with wet hair.
